8-9 months

I have so many posts I need to catch up on...Christmas, Family Pictures, and her 8 and 9 month landmark posts. So I'm starting here and hope that the others won't take long to follow.  A lot as changed in the last 2 months. It is crazy how much she can grow and develop in just 2 shorts months.

At 8/9 months Scarlett:

  • is 23.1 lbs, 29 1/2 " long and is in the 97 percentile
  • Stands on her own very well...She gets up by pushing off on something but a handful of times she's stood up all on her own, and tries to stand up all the time.
  • Is the fastest crawler I know :)
  • Babbles all day long...her favorite thing to say is "Dada"
  • Has just enough hair to clip a bow in :)
  • Has had her first Christmas and we loved every minute of it!
  • Is starting to take her first few steps already and loves to try over and over again
  • Plays and plays and plays all day
  • Loves swinging on the swings
  • Is starting to play peek-a-boo by trying to hide her face then pop up again
  • Loves Jamba Juice
  • Waves Hello all day long
  • Loves to clap her hands
  • Is the most fun happiest baby ever
  • Gets so much joy out of just about anything

7 months

Oooops this is a little..well a lot late. Scarlett turned 7 months on Thanksgiving, November 22nd.  Since her 6 month birthday Scarlett seems to be a whole new baby. I know I say this every post but Scarlett just keeps getting cuter and more fun as the days go by.  So lucky to be her mama!

At 7 months Scarlett:

  • Weighs 20.10 lbs
  • Got her worst cold yet to date. So sad :(
  • Took a trip to Hawaii and had a fabulous time in the ocean and the sand
  • Stopped sleeping through the night due to trip to Hawaii and being sick
  • Started to crawl the day after her 7 month birthday
  • Went from army crawl to actually on her hands and knees (still a little wobbly at it)
  • Thinks dogs are the funniest things around
  • Eats finger foods and loves them! She'll eat about anything except babyfood (unless we trick her into it, but putting a puff in first)
  • Loves the little snack puffs
  • Can stand on her own (for a few seconds then tips back and doesn't bend her knees so its hilarious-she looks like she's playing the trust game where someone catches you when you fall back...Don't worry I always (well almost always) am there to catch her
  • Went from saying one word (sounds) at a time first it was "ma-ma-ma-ma" then she would stop saying that and only say "ba-ba-ba-ba," and then she stopped saying that and only would say "da-da-da."
  • Still always says "maaaaa-maaaaa" when she's crying really hard (i.e. in the car seat and i can't help her)...Breaks my heart.
  • Loves it when Dada throws her in the air
  • Loves to stick her tongue out and move it from side to side
  • Yells, squeels, and recently roars to her hearts content

Her pumped up kicks

Downward dog...Scarlett's favorite yoga pose

Her activity table that she loves. Thanks Auntie Steph!

She's been in Christmas jammies since October...Love it!

This is how I always find Scarlett when she wakes up...pulling the bumper down to look towards the door where I walk in...bless her heart!

Hawaii - Part 1

We have been in Hawaii, North Shore Oahu - our old BYU-H stomping grounds - for the last 5 days. We are here until Tuesday, and can't believe our vacation is already almost over!! This has been Scarlett's first big vacation and our first vacation together as JUST our little family. Those of you who talked with me before I left knew how nervous I was about the long flight and the 3 hour time change (especially since Scarlett just started sleeping all through the night).  Well it turns out that my worries were ridiculous because I forgot I had the absolute best baby in the world!  She slept and ate and played on the flight and was so happy!  And the first night we got here she just woke up once to nurse and has been on her regular schedule ever since.  She has been in heaven this whole trip with so much to do...And she has gotten so attached to Doug while we have been here and is so thrilled she gets to play with him all the time...I don't know what she is going to do when he has to go back to work. Our vacation thus far has been filled with 6:30 am bike rides (when S wakes up), playing the ocean, playing/eating the sand, walks, soccer games, and evening bike rides to watch the sunset. We are all having the time of our lives!

An absolute angel on the 5 hour flight.
First time putting her feet in the Hawaiian sand

Don't come any closer wave...I'm a waaaaaarrrrrrnin ya! - Elmer Fudd voice (reference to her hat)

She watched the waves very nervously at first...took her a while to warm up to them
