Not Again

Poor little Dougy just can't seem to keep himself out of trouble. I guess I spoke too soon in a previous post when I said I was relieved Doug was done with soccer because it meant no more concussions or brutal injuries....February 10th, 2009 Doug got in a snowboarding accident which ended in a broken nose and a small concussion. Thankfully it wasn't more than that because he did not have his helmet on at the time and was going off all sorts of jumps. So on nose injuries alone that adds up to 3 broken noses and if he needs surgery (which they think he will) 3 nose surgeries! Poor guy...I wonder if they make full body helmets.....

We choose you Kentucky!

As most of you know, Doug is managing an office for Security Sales and with this job we get to go to fun new places every summer...We just found out last night at the draft. Doug and his co-manager got to choose their office location and they picked Louisville/Lexington Kentucky! We couldn't be more happy or excited about it and being a scholarly lady, I decided to do some research about my new temporary summer home....Kentucky:
State Abbreviation - KY
Origin of Name - From an Iroquoian word “Ken-tah-ten” meaning “land of tomorrow”
State Capital - Frankfort
Largest City - Louisville
State Horse - Thoroughbred
State Animal - Gray Squirrel
Area - Kentucky is the 37th biggest state in the USA
Name for Residents - Kentuckians
Famous People Born Here: Abraham Lincoln,George Clooney, Johnny Depp , Jefferson Davis, Diane Sawyer, and many many more
State Nickname - Bluegrass State
State Motto - "United we stand, divided we fall "

But what am I most excited about?

The first Saturday in May...That's right the Kentucky Derby!

and tons of this...

One of my best friends from college just moved to Louisville with her husband! We can't wait to be neighbors again!

And lots and lots of laughs! Selling over the summer always sets the stage for some hilarious stories and I am looking forward to laughing at every single one of them!

Little Baby Hansens

So I saw this on my friends blog and I thought it was hilarious and just had to try it out!! After telling Madeleine about it and having some good hearty laughs, I have come to some conclusions: 1. The Boy and the Girl have the exact same face with just different color hair...Well really, what should I have expected?
2. I think it is quite fitting that the boy has a hard hat on because if our kids turn anything out like Doug, they will need it!! In fact I might as well just strap a helmet and a bubble wrap suit on them 24/7.
3. So far these computer children of mine have no casts or broken noses of any sorts so maybe they will inherit more of my "think before genes" instead of Doug's more retrospective take on life after all...

And we're back!

I know this way overdue and this is for all of you who have told me that if you look at my blog one more time and see the "pomegranate" post its gonna make you sick! So after this overview of the past 5 months, I will try not to go A-Wall again on my blog for another 5 months. So what have we been up to? Well we wrapped up our time in Hawaii with a visit from Doug's parents, which included amazing food, fun shopping, hilarious stories, and of course a scary slippery hike in the pitch black with nothing to lead us but our cell phone lights. To clarify, we didn't intend to hike in the dark, but Doug assured us that we would be in and out before dark...well to say the least he was dead wrong and we were all scared out of wits and had no idea if we were even following the right trail!! But Doug redeemed himself when he successfully led us out the dark jungle and safely to our cars (there's your Eagle Scout training put to good use). Well after the in-laws left, my sister and her husband came to visit for thanksgiving. We attempted to cook a "Pilgrim-like" dinner with the little supplies we had at my apartment and it turned out suprisingly good, and did all the fun touristy things we would want to do before we left the island. Then sadly it was time to leave Hawaii for good, and we spent 3 weeks in California with our family and friends. It was a blast and now we are Utah settled in, hanging out with our adorable nieces and nephews, and looking forward to the Hansen's Utah Ski trip in a few weeks!!!! More to come...hopefully ;)
