Sister visit and prego pics

Last month my sister and her family came to visit and stayed with Doug and me. It was so fun to spend some extra time with Brandi and my adorable little nephew Simon. I can't believe how big he is getting!! He seriously is the sweetest happiest little boy ever. He lets anyone hold him and will give you little kisses all day long! Love him and miss him. He's going to be a great big cousin to our little girl.

Speaking of our little baby girl, she is due in April and Doug and I are getting ready fast and furious for her. We are trying our best to get her little nursery finished. Its turning out quite pink. Girls are so much fun! I am 30 weeks now and growing. Scarlett (oh by the way thats what we are thinking of naming her) is moving around all the time, making her mama's tummy look quite distorted some of the time. The other day I was lying behind Doug with my arms around him, and Scarlett kicked so hard he felt it in his back. It was really funny. I absolutely love feeling her move around even when she is most active as I try to sleep. It is such a bonding and reassuring experience. I am feeling great, a little sore at night (not to mention all the bathroom trips) but besides that I've had a really easy and healthy pregnancy thus far, which I am very thankful for. I find myself wondering (ok obsessing) more and more recently what our little girl is going to look like. Both my nephews on my side definitely took after my sisters, but those Hansen genes are incredibly strong too, so it will be fun to see what Baze + Hansen makes. We are having a 3d ultra sound on Monday so I'll be able to update with more pictures of baby girl then.

We're having a...

Beautiful baby girl! We had our 2nd trimester ultrasound today which confirmed we are having a girl and that she is perfectly healthy! She kept crossing her legs and was very lady like during the scan. The dr told us a handful of times during it that her lips were really big. We thought that was funny and kept picturing her coming out with Angelina Jolie sized lips. Unfortunately none of the pics they printed out came out very clear so this one is the best we've got. She has her legs crisscross and her arms by her head.

I'm PREGNANT!

And couldn't be happier! I am officially starting my 2nd trimester today! I am 14 weeks along and would have posted this much sooner but our computer has been on the fritz for the last month, so I finally grabbed my camera and cords and headed over to my parents so I could post this.

Doug and I had been trying for a while to get pregnant, taking a pregnancy test started to become more routine than exciting. So when I took a test on sunday morning August 7th, my expectations for a positive test was pretty low. Which is why I (and Doug) almost fell over backwards when we saw this:

We were so over the moon about it but took a few extra tests just to make sure! Sure enough I was pregnant!! Our little baby is due April 18th, 2012.

Our baby at 10 weeks

So now that the first trimester is officially over, I have to say I've been one of the lucky ones who didn't really get too sick. Mostly just extremely tired and loss of appetite for a bit. And now that I am entering my 2nd trimester, I can finally start to see a little baby bump growing which is sooo exciting!

We had an ultra sound done at 12wks 5 days to hear the heart beat, etc., but we found out so much more! The doctor said that he was 95% sure that our baby is a girl!!!! Of course we won't know for certain for about 6 more weeks, but this doctor sounded pretty sure the multiple times he told us it was a girl!!! This will be the first girl in my family which everyone is so excited about! It is so hard now not to walk by the baby girl section and not want to buy everything I see, but I've been able to restrain myself thus far :)

Doug and I are overjoyed to become parents and are enjoying every step of the process. We couldn't feel more blessed and happy about it. Next step is to clean out the second bedroom and make room for little baby (girl) hansen!

Hikes, Hikes and more Hikes!

Doug and I have found a new favorite past-time to do together, yep you guessed it - hiking. We have been going on a handful of hikes around the bay and I love it! There is just something about being out in nature that makes everything seem so peaceful. We recently went to Tahoe where we stayed at the Squaw Creek Resort right by the mountains. It was a blast and although it was short weekend it was a vacation nonetheless, and we couldn't have enjoyed it more!

Tahoe!!!

A room with a view
All the snow run off made for some awesome waterfalls all around our hike

The extremely large tree trunk right at my head level...don't ask me how I didn't see it, but I didn't. My head rammed into it so hard that I heard my teeth chatter. I felt like a Wile E Coyote cartoon.

But you're only in Tahoe once so I picked my head (and eyes) up and enjoyed the rest of the hike.
The simple pleasures in life

Back in the Bay for a day hike

I don't know why Doug looks so much taller than me in this pic...he must be standing on something...shouldn't I be the one trying to be taller?

4th of July hike with the Hansens

The End.
P.S. I don't know why some of the captions are bolded or underlined...I'm blogger illiterate and can't figure out how to undo it.

Sisters weekend

I had the last week in February off of work, so Trin, Owen, and I took the opportunity to have a girls weekend with Brandi and Simon in LA. Even though we just stayed in West Covina (15 min from where Brandi lives), it was so much fun and I don't know why we haven't done it sooner! I had so much fun with my sisters and even more with my adorable little nephews. Little Simon is getting so chunky and cute I absolutely love kissing him! And Owen is just the life of the party, cracking jokes and making us all laugh! Can't wait until the next sisters weekend!

Owen tried these aviators on at Baby Gap and kept making this kissy face so we just had to buy them...Side note: we saw Steve Sanders from 90210 there!
